The urgent need for decarbonization of mobility requires the exponential growth of electric vehicles, but the insufficient public charging infrastructure and expensive private chargers present challenges. SELECTIVE proposes a shared economy framework for electric chargers through an app that lets hosts rent their electrified parking space to guests, providing hosts with an extra revenue stream and denser charging coverage without new infrastructure deployment.

Description

SELECTIVE proposes to apply shared economy principles to private Electric Vehicle Charging Points (EVCPs) by launching a peer-to-peer app that allows individuals who own an electrified parking space to rent it out to other EV users while unused. This will make private EVCPs more efficient, increase the publicly accessible EVCP network, and allow hosts to earn an extra revenue stream. The project’s ultimate goal is to accelerate the electrification of the European fleet through a shared environment that will lead to greener, safer, and less polluted cities. The start-up CargaTuCoche will upgrade and adapt its beta software for market launch during the SELECTIVE project, designing a business model that ensures profitability and scalability of the app. Pilots in the European cities of Madrid and Prague will serve as the starting point to evaluate the service in a real market and plan for future growth.
